Abstrak

Salah satu tuntutan dan sekaligus ciri kekristenan adalah hidup kudus dan kekudusan. Kekristenan tidak akan pernah bisa dilepaskan dengan soal hidup kudus. Ini bukan hanya bagian dari para tokoh Alkitab atau orang-orang pilihan zaman dulu, tapi juga di sini dan kini. Hal ini ditegaskan dalam Perjanjian Lama maupun Perjanjian Baru; dari Kitab Kejadian hingga Kitab Wahyu. Mengapa ini penting? Karena Allah yang kudus memang menuntut supaya umat kepunyaan-Nya juga menjadi kudus. Pengudusan dalam hal status sudah dilakukan oleh Allah melalui pekerjaan Roh Kudus dan merupakan akibat dari iman kepada Kristus Yesus. Proses pengudusan—dalam pengalaman hidup—itu akan terus berlangsung seumur hidup, sampai kita sudah meninggalkan dunia ini di mana Allah sendiri yang akan menyempurnakan kekudusan kita. Namun demikian pengudusan dalam status/ kedudukan kita di hadapan Allah—itu berlaku sekali seumur hidup, yaitu pada saat kita percaya.
