Abstrak

Dunia telah berubah. Iklim juga telah berubah. Bencana alam silih berganti dengan jenis dan intensitas yang makin kuat dari tahun ke tahun. Manusia seolah tidak pernah memikirkan apa dampak dari tindakan dan gaya hidup yang dikembangkannya terhadap manusia lain dan ciptaan Allah lainnya? Manusia tidak mengasihi lingkungan! Itu sebabnya dibutuhkan suatu pendekatan baru untuk menata dan membangun (kembali) fondasi pemahaman yang benar mengenai tanggung jawab manusia terhadap ciptaan Allah; bagaimana mengasihi lingkungan. Mengasihi lingkungan memiliki dua dimensi berbeda. Pada satu sisi, orang Kristen perlu kembali ke sumbernya untuk memahami makna dan tujuan Allah mencipta dirinya segambar dengan-Nya dan ciptaan lain. Dampak kejatuhan pada manusia dan ciptaan lain, terang penebusan yang dikerjakan Allah di dalam Kristus dan dampak kedatangan Kristus yang kedua mewakili apa yang disebut ‘Apa Kata Alkitab?’ Pada sisi lain, mengasihi lingkungan berarti melakukan tindakan nyata. Tindakan nyata orang Kristen dapat diwujudkan melalui kehidupan pribadi, keluarga dan gereja.
