Abstract
Apakah itu etika? Norman L. Geisler memahami etika sebagai apa yang secara moral dinyatakan benar atau salah. Dengan demikian, bagi Geisler, erika
memiliki arti yang sama dengan hukum moral. Berbeda dengan Geisler, Franz Magnis-Suseno memandang erika harus dibedakan dari hukum moral. Kesadaran perbedaan pengertian dari etika dan hukum moral ini juga disadari oleh pakar-pakar teologi, itulah sebabnya mereka ada yang menggunakan istilah "moral teaching," ketimbang menggunakan istilah "ethics" atau etika. Oleh karena keperbedaan pengertian tersebut, kita harus menyamakan persepsi terlebih dahulu dengan apa yang dimaksudkan etika dalam etika Paulus; dalam konteks ini, erika yang dimaksudkan bukanlah dalam pengertian ilmu ftlsafat, sebagai ilmu/ seni dalam menilai atau mengambil keputusan, namun sebagai ajaran moral.
