Sunat Sebagai Ergoon Nomou

Abstract
Salah satu perdebatan yang alot dalam diskusi seputar teologi Paulus adalah mengenai arti frasa ergoon nomou. Ada banyak jurnal dan buku sudah dituliskan untuk memberikan alternatif pengertian terhadap frasa tersebut. Perdebatan mengenai hal tersebut muncul, salah satunya, karena interpretasi baru yang dilontarkan oleh kelompok New Perspective terhadap arti frasa tersebut. James D. G. Dunn, salah satu tokoh utama New Perspective, menegaskan bahwa arti dari frasa ergoon nomou terutama menunjuk pada hukum-hukum identitas. Ada tiga respons yang muncul terhadap pemikiran baru tersebut; Sebagian pakar mendukung atau menyatakan kesejajaran pandangannya dengan Dunn; sebagian pakar lain menolak pandangan tersebut dan tetap berpegang pada pandangan tradisional yang memandang arti dari frasa e;rgwn no,mou sebagai perbuatan baik/tuntutan hukum Taurat; dan sebagian pakar lain lagi menggabungkan kedua pandangan di atas.
