Jabatan imam sebagai martabat tertinggi dalam Injil Yohanes 21:15-19 dari sudut pandang John Chrysostom
Abstract
Artikel ini mengkaji keseluruhan kehidupan imam. Artikel ini menggunakan metode pustaka dengan landasan buku “Six Books on the Priesthood” oleh John Chrysostom. Juga didukung oleh pandangan Bapa-Bapa Gereja dan jurnal-jurnal teologi yang berkaitan dengan pembahasan artikel serta mengkolaborasikannya dengan ayat-ayat yang ada di dalam Alkitab. Chrysostom menekankan bahwa tugas seorang imam adalah tugas melayani jiwa di hadapan Tuhan. Beberapa peneliti lain mengungkapkan, tugas seorang imam/gembala dalam jabatannya dianggap sulit dan rendah. Namun dibalik kesulitan tersebut, Chrysostom menemukan kemuliaan di dalam keimamatan. Oleh karena itu, kemuliaan jabatan imam sebagai martabat tertinggi diungkapkan dalam tiga hal. Pertama, awal mula tugas dan tanggung jawab imam dinyatakan dalam Injil Yohanes 21:15-19 sebagai pernyataan Yesus. Kedua, seorang imam menjadi representasi Kristus bagi kawanan melalui karakternya. Ketiga, tugas keimamatan meliputi berbagai godaan dan bahaya dalam pelayanan. Ketiga hal ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan keseluruhan kehidupan imam sebagai tugas dan tanggung jawab yang tidak mudah tetapi mulia.
