Pelajaran dari Perjanjian Lama untuk Misi Holistik
Abstract
Untuk mengawali tulisan ini saya akan mengutip tulisan J. H. Bavinck demikian, “Pada kali pertama Perjanjian Lama dibaca, sepertinya tidak memberikan dasar apa pun untuk konsep misi. Walaupun Bavinck sendiri menyatakan bahwa pikiran itu tidak benar, pikiran itu masih dipegang oleh banyak orang Kristen, bahkan ahli misi. Itu sebabnya Chris Wright memberikan komentar sebagai berikut:”Bagi banyak orang Kristen, misi dimulai di ‘Bukit Kenaikan’ ketika Tuhan Yesus—setelah kebangkitan-Nya—memberikan tugas kepada murid-murid-Nya untuk dilaksanakan sampai Dia kembali ke bumi.” Pasti, seseorang yang berpikir bahwa konsep misi tidak ada dalam Perjanjian Lama (PL) akan berpendapat bahwa sia-sia kita memeriksa PL untuk membentuk teologi dan sistem misi untuk gereja zaman ini. Akibatnya, sarjana misi dan misionari tidak sering menyelidiki atau membahas Perjanjian Lama.
