Peran Konseling Pastoral Dalam Era HIV/AIDS
Abstract
Sejak awal 1980-an kita mengalami perubahan supercepat yang terjadi secara diam-diam: quiet revolution. Salah satu gejala utama quiet revolution adalah HIV/AIDS. Karena dunia medis belum menemukan obat yang menyembuhkan, jutaan orang meninggal dunia. Mereka meninggal bukan karena virus HIV melainkan karena penyakit oportunistiknya (ikutannya). Dunia medis telah menemukan alat tes untuk menentukan apakah seseorang terinfeksi HIV atau tidak, namun kita tetap mengalami kesulitan menentukan jumlah orang yang terinfeksi HIV secara tepat dan jumlah ODHA terus melambung tak terbendungkan. HIV/AIDS tidak hanya terkait dengan persoalan fisik-biologis-medis tetapi juga psikologis, sosial, dan spiritual. Konseling pastoral yang lahir pada awal Abad XX merupakan layanan profesional yang mengintegrasikan teologi terapan (cura animarum, pastoral care) dengan psikologi terapan (konseling psikologi). Sebagaimana kelahiran konseling pastoral merupakan tanggapan terhadap krisis multidimensional yang dialami oleh masyarakat Amerika Serikat pada awal Abad XX, konseling pastoral dapat menjadi salah satu pilar utama penanganan HIV/AIDS melalui upaya prevention.
